Joseph E. Mitchell, BA, DC is a chiropractic physician specializing in the evaluation and treatment of herniated discs, lumbar facet syndrome and most other spinal and neuromusculoskeletal disorders.  He enjoys an outstanding reputation for achieving successful results through experienced and comprehensive examinations that lead to accurate diagnoses.  The clinic utilizes the latest non-surgical Spinal Decompression Systems and physical therapy modalities.

   “I wanted to do something in health care and was leaning toward the practice of medicine, but after having a great experience through chiropractic care, and visiting the campuses of two medical schools and then visiting the campus of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, I decided to become a chiropractic physician."

   At Palmer College of Chiropractic he completed four academic years and over 4,500 classroom hours of study including biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and physiology, radiology, physical and laboratory diagnosis, manipulation and adjustment of the spine and extremities and clinical experience in the Palmer Public Clinic.  His internship was completed at Clearview Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.

   Dr. Mitchell has completed extensive post-graduate training beyond the DC degree in such subjects as diagnosis, radiology, physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic orthopedics and neurology, industrial and automobile injury evaluation and treatment, spinal trauma, disability and impairment evaluation, accident reconstruction and naturopathy.

   He received his baccalaureate degree in nutrition (BA) from Columbia College.  In addition to receiving his license in Oklahoma he also received licenses in the states of Kentucky and California.  He originally started practice in Pryor, Oklahoma where he practiced for 20 years.  He has practiced in Claremore for many years.

   Through the years Dr. Mitchell has developed a close working relationship with the medical profession and works directly and cooperatively with physicians and surgeons in this area.  He is also on the medical staff of SouthCrest Hospital in Tulsa.  (See link to SouthCrest Hospital in our "Links" page.)  

   Dr. Mitchell is a member of the Unified Chiropractic Association, the American Chiropractic Association, the Oklahoma State Chiropractic Association, and the Oklahoma State Chiropractic Independent Physicians Association.  He has served on the Advisory and Investigation Committee of the Oklahoma State Board of Chiropractic Examiners and has served in numerous offices and capacities in the various state associations.  He was Editor/Publisher of the Oklahoma Chiropractic Journal for eleven years.  He served as the elected Oklahoma Representative to the American Chiropractic Association for several years.

   Dr. Mitchell has received many professional awards and honors including Chiropractor of the Year on two occasions, Outstanding Service Award on four occasions and the Meritorious Service Award from the American Chiropractic Association.
